about-1The man that started it all, Andrew (Andy) Spyrou is joined in the business by wife Sophia (Accounts), and sons John (Managing Director), Peter (Fleet Services Manager), and Daniel (Allocations Manager).

The business was started by Andrew Spyrou (Andy) over 30 years ago with 1 truck. In 2000 Andy expanded his business by bringing his eldest son, John, into the company. Under the direction of John with encouragement from Andy, the company has grown to a fleet of 35 trucks, and over 90 trailers of varying capabilities and capacities.

In September 2011, AST continued expanding, moving to a dedicated yard located at 1 – 59 Beauchamp Road Matraville, enabling the fleet to be operated and maintained onsite, in addition to facilitating the storage of more than 250 containers at any one time, including “on power” reefer storage up to 10 containers contiguously.

The location was chosen not only for its size (8,000sqm+ Hardstand) but for its proximity to the Sydney Port facilities, and is currently rated as one of the top three sites immediately outside of the Port zone, being no more than 1,400 metres from the farthest terminal.

Operating on a 24hour continuous roster, AST is able to provide a timely and consistent transport service to our customers, either through the provision of direct-to-customer freight from the terminals, or via a shuttle service from the terminals to our yard, with pre-programmed deliveries to our customers at a time that suits their schedule.

Our customer service team currently consists of dedicated 24, 48, and 72 hour planners, in addition to 3 allocators, ensuring we possess the capability to safely and confidently accommodate all delivery requirements of our customers.


Like most family owned and run companies, AST Services Pty Ltd came from humble beginnings and was started by one man with a vision to create a solution for clients and a home for family.

That vision has now evolved into a focussed, dedicated, and passionate service provider where all team members are given the opportunity to express their thoughts and ideas with the view that many minds provide a superior result.

Our team members are regularly instructed in best practice management. Regular safety and “toolbox” meetings provide an opportunity to address issues, and provide a forum for feedback from drivers.

Should circumstances exist whereby a delivery will not meet schedule, we notify clients at the earliest practicable time, and keep our clients fully informed throughout the entire delivery process.

Our overweight policies are class leading within the industry and, bearing in mind, weigh-in-motion scales are now installed at all terminals, our policies and procedures will ensure our customers continue to receive their freight legally and safely.



Security is our primary concern. We ensure the integrity of your freight is maintained at all times.

We employ the latest technology to ensure our fleet is secure. All vehicles are fully equipped with interactive tracking devices and live monitoring of all truck positions is conducted 24/7 by our operations team.

All drivers have access to dedicated 2-way radio communications registered on a private frequency so details of your consignment will never be heard by anyone else.

Trucks are equipped with message screens and keypads for drivers to send and receive information.

The AST Services yard is covered by CCTV with 24/7 monitoring of all activities.

Our drivers are the face of AST Services. To ensure our quality standards are maintained, drivers are screened, given background checks, and provided with regular ongoing operations training by professional instructors.



The good news for our customers is that we’re on your side, and we will go that extra step, provide that personalized service, treat you like an individual, and get your job done the way YOU want it done.



As we continue to grow we regularly update our fleet as well as purchasing additional equipment. Our In-house mechanics conduct regular servicing as well as providing an emergency breakdown service.



All trucks in our fleet are GPS enabled. At all times every vehicle is visible to our Operations Team which means greater predictability in updating our clients.
